TPLF Military’s Massive Search Operation of OLA Targeted Civilians in Western Harargee

(OLF News, August 13, 2009) A report we received from Eastern Oromia, Western Harargee zone revealed that the Wayyaanee troops of the area, being angry at the defensive military action the Oromo Liberation Army (OLA) has taken on their army on July 11, July 12, and July 21, 2009, and having the illusion of eliminating or defending the actions of OLA, have been conducting a massive military “search operation” of the OLA in which they are reported to have been harassing innocent civilians. The search operation is said to have been especially intensified in the districts of Daaroo Labuu and Bookee.

While several Oromo farmers are apprehended and thrown to detention camps during the so called search operation, among Oromo farmers who have been arrested under the pretext of supporting the OLA, and whose names our reporters are able to identify are: 1) Kamal Adam (administrator of Billiqaa village), 2) Bayisaa (an elder in the village of Tayfee).

In related news Wayyaanee troops have apprehended and tortured several innocent civilians in the town of Dirre Dhawaa. Among those detained and tortured, the names our reporters are able to get are: 1) Mr. Sham Mohammad, 2) Mr. Taajuu Abdallaa, and 3) One other person from Garaadaa village whose name is unknown for the time being.

It is to be recalled that OLF News has reported on August 6, 2009 that the gallant OLA fighters operating in Eastern Oromia have killed a total of 17 enemy troops and wounded more than 15 on three different occasions: July 11, July 12, and July 21, 2009.
